Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of our dedicated and hardworking small friendly dispensary team based at Cotswold Medical Practice. We are looking for dispenser (GP surgery based) who can bring a friendly, caring and professional service to our patients. If you hold a dispensary NVQ qualification, we would love to hear from you, however we also welcome applicants interested in training for this role and will support you in training and completing your NVQ.

Main duties of the job

  • Label, dispense and endorse prescriptions in accordance with standard operating procedures to ensure safe supply to patients in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Ensure the safe supply and appropriate storage of medicines.
  • Ordering enough medication and stock in line with company procedures to meet patient demand and date/usage checking to maximise availability and minimise waste.
  • Create and update patient medication records in accordance with data protection principles to ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Check endorsements and patient declarations on prescriptions and file correctly to ensure maximum payments are received with minimal losses.
  • Process invoices and paperwork in a timely manner following company procedures.
  • Undertake all necessary housekeeping duties so that dispensary is kept clean and tidy.
  • Work as part of a team and actively demonstrate a willingness to support and achieve the overall business objectives.

Practice Receptionist (part time, 20 to 25 hours per week)

Working Hours: 20 to 25 hours per week (part time)

Cotswold Medical Practice is seeking to appoint a reliable, professional, and well-organised medical receptionist to join our team. This is a key front-facing role, acting as the first point of contact for our patients and serving as a central link between patients, clinical staff, and administrative colleagues.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality reception and administrative support across both our sites, ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the practice on a daily basis.

Job summary

The post holder will provide a courteous and efficient reception service to all patients and visitors, both in person and via telephone. With appropriate training, they will also carry out a range of administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the practice.

This job description outlines the core responsibilities of the role. Duties may be reviewed and amended from time to time in consultation with the post holder to reflect the needs of the practice.

Key responsibilities

Patient facing duties

  • Greet and assist patients upon arrival at the surgery.
  • Answer general patient enquiries and provide clear information regarding practice procedures and services.
  • Schedule new and follow-up appointments, including urgent cases, in a professional and timely manner.
  • Handle telephone calls promptly and courteously, using discretion and sensitivity when dealing with patient concerns.
  • Register new patients on the clinical system and ensure the accurate completion of all required documentation.

Operational support

  • Open and prepare the premises at the start of the working day, including disarming the alarm system and preparing reception areas.
  • Secure the building at the close of business, ensuring all areas are locked, lights switched off, and alarms activated.
